About Anne:
Anne Radcliffe was born in England, raised in the deep south of the United States, and somehow ironically ended up in Canada where she’s been for the last quarter century. It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Heck, most of her life has gone in the opposite direction from well intentioned plans, which is possibly why she’s a pantser when it comes to life in general. From about the age of 14, Anne Radcliffe wanted to be an author. She originally wanted to write science fiction, if you can believe that.
Like a good portion of Gen X, Anne spent a lot of time growing up reading books that were entirely inappropriate for her age group. Yeah, Gerald’s Game was in her high school library, and her entire school bus read the naughty bits of Valley of Horses. She enjoyed the absurdist animated comedy of the 90s like Johnny Bravo and Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and fell face first into raving with the British when everyone else was playing the Blues Travelers on repeat.
And then she met a guy, like, totally unexpectedly. Online, in the days of barely-more-than-text dialup internet, AOL, and repeated questions of “but how do know he’s not an axe murderer?” She moved to Canada and spent her first winter as a blanket taco. Originally there were plans to go back, but then 9/11 happened, and immigration doors slammed shut, which was unfortunate cause she had married that Canadian dude by that point.
Anne forgot the original plan to write books cause that was kind of hard to get noticed in the 00s, and finished schooling in Canada for film and screenwriting, because the GTA is basically Hollywood with snow. Life happened, as it’s wont to do, and after about ten more years, Anne found her way back into the more traditional writing. First for parent stuff, then editing, and then it’s come back full circle. Except instead of writing SF, she’s just reading it and writing historical mysteries and thrillers instead. It’s kind of her friend Lynn’s fault.
And playing lots of video games. So, so many hours lost to expansive RPGs like BG3 and base builders like Oxygen Not Included. So many.
