The Sapphire Intrigue is Book #3 in The Crown Jewels Regency Mysteries series

The Sapphire Intrigue

Brighton is the seaside resort where the wealthy play. But there’s nothing ‘bon’ about one member of the ton…

A stolen code, a locked-down Pavilion, and a love on the line—Regency Brighton’s season of secrets is just beginning.

Brighton, 1813: The upper class departs London’s bustling streets for the serene seaside elegance of the Royal Pavilion. A summer of relaxation and romance beckons, especially for Lord Roland Percy and Lady Grace Tilbury.

Yet, tranquillity is shattered when a key military advisor is found murdered, and his secret military codes stolen, plunging the Prince Regent into a frenzy. Under royal edict, the Pavilion is locked down, leaving Roland and Grace with a daunting ultimatum: recover the missing codes or forfeit the royal favour on their budding courtship.

The investigation seems straightforward, with just a few likely suspects. But the mystery deepens when their top suspect meets a grim fate, forcing them to question everything they thought they knew. As they navigate a labyrinth of deceit, the traitor they seek slips further from their grasp.

With time running out, Roland and Grace are thrust into a desperate hunt to catch the traitor before he disappears with the tides. Their future together, and the very security of the British Empire, are at stake.

Can they expose the villain, or will their inaugural season in Brighton also be their last?

Roland agreed. “Dosed, he would be quiet and easy to kill by nearly anyone. Do you have suspicions as to the identity of his murderer?”

Sinclair tucked his hands behind his back. “The logistics of committing the act within the pavilion would be difficult to navigate. But for someone coming in from outside of the building, it would be nearly impossible.”

“Do not take offence, Sinclair, but I do hope you’re wrong,” Danforth grumbled, pushing a hand through his trimmed hair restlessly. “Because if you are not, that means that you wish to hold everyone in the same house as a murderer. And if I am discomfited by that… well, I only imagine how the others shall feel.”
